Frequently Asked Questions

How do you sell your meat?

At this time we sell whole or half hogs.  For availability and pricing please email us.  Go to the contact page and fill out the form.  We will get back to you as quickly as possible.

We end our season in October/November after the pigs have had the opportunity to eat fallen nuts from our trees and pumpkins from our garden.  This adds to the flavor of the pork.

What do your pigs eat?

Our pigs live very happy lives in our forest.  The forest is a pig's natural habitat.  Their noses are flat, made for digging deep into the forest floor and turning over logs searching for grubs, mushrooms, nuts, and so much more.  We also buy organic feed from a local farm to supplement their diet.  In the autumn, they are fed pumpkins, squash, pears, apples and anything else grown in gardens that dont make it to the table.

Why do you supplement the pigs with grain?

We would love to allow our pigs to forage for all of their food.  But, in order to raise healthy pigs that have all of their nutritional needs met, we must feed our pigs grain.  The grain comes from a family owned farm in Lovettsville.  You are supporting several local small farms when purchasing our pork.

How much meat will I get?

We raise pigs to have a live weight between 250-300.

“Hanging weight” is the weight used to calculate your cost. Our hanging weights are between 180-216lbs.  We can work with you if you would like a larger or smaller pig depending on your preference.

NOTE: Actual weight will vary up or down. Take home weight will be ~10-15% less than hanging weight based on cut selections. E.g., choosing boneless chops over bone-in, bones, organs, etc.
